v10.1: New Shops, Letters and Bigger Friends Lists
Hedgehog Creek v10.1 is here! Every NPC shop has a new look, emails arrive like letters from the village, and friends lists are bigger for everyone.
Hello Hedgehogs!
Version 10.1 of Hedgehog Creek is out today. It is smaller than v10, but you will notice it the moment you walk up to a shopkeeper. Every shop has a brand new look, our emails now arrive like letters from the village, and your friends list can hold a lot more friends.
If you are new here, Hedgehog Creek is a free online virtual world that runs in your browser. Dress up your hedgehog, decorate your home, make friends and play minigames. Create a hedgehog and you can be in the world in a few seconds. Already have one? Log in and go and visit a stall.
Shops with a stall of their own
The NPC shops have been rebuilt from the ground up. Shopkeepers now lean out of their stall window, and their stock sits on shelves in a wooden display case with price tags hanging underneath.
- Buy straight from the shopkeeper's speech bubble. There are no more pop-ups getting in the way.
- A little "Bought!" card tells you when something is yours, and your coins count down so you can see what you spent.
- Try clothes on your own hedgehog before you buy them, and put them on as soon as they are yours.
- The free item sparkles until you have claimed it, and claiming it sets off a burst of confetti.
- Works on phones held either way up.
Furniture shops got the same treatment. Once you have claimed the free piece you can buy more of it, and "Buy another" lets you pick up extras straight away.
Hazel's stall is full of Halloween furniture right now, so it is a good time to start decorating your home.
Emails that feel like letters
Our emails have a new look. They now arrive like a letter from the village, with a postmark and a Mayor Spike first class stamp.
- New hedgehogs get a welcome letter with a few things to try first, plus a wave from ScreenCactus.
- The confirm email and password reset emails share the same design, with a big button that is easy to tap on phones.
- Emails are now sent through a new email service, so they should arrive faster and are less likely to end up in spam.
- They stay easy to read in dark mode, and each one has a plain text version for email apps that need it.
If your email is not confirmed yet, a reminder now shows on the home page and in the game, with a button to send the confirmation email again. Confirming it means you can always reset your password if you forget it.
Bigger friends lists
Friends lists have grown. Pending requests count towards the limit.
- Everyone: 100 friends (up from 80)
- Tier 1 supporters: 150
- Tier 2 supporters: 200
- Tier 3 supporters: 300
You can see your own count at the top of your friends list. Supporter tiers are available through Patreon, and you can see what each tier unlocks on the Supporter Perks page.
Hedgehogs Can Fly 1.0.1
Hedgehogs Can Fly has been updated to 1.0.1. Some flights could freeze after bumping into lots of things, leaving your hedgehog stuck on the ground with no game over and nothing saved. That is fixed, so every flight now ends properly and counts towards Perry's goals.
